Buddhism is about researching life seeking truth, understanding, and wisdom and to find peace and happiness.
The Body seeks pleasure in all things, but this pleasure is fleeting at best and ends.
Taste=nice favor, good
- Seeing=pleasant views, people, places
- Hearing= Pleasant sounds
- Smelling=Pleasant aromas
- Touch=smooth silk, skin, gentle touches
- Mind=Pleasant thoughts, memories, dreams
Happiness is fleeting, if all we use is our six senses, we will never know true happiness, until we understand our own part in the thoughts that we create.
All senses things are temporary; in fact most everything is temporary, life, money, fame, newness, oldness. Everything has a beginning and ending, we come into this world crying and go out in silences.
Life begins in dirt, with a planted seed, that grows into something, say a banana and animals eat it and they grow, reproduce, and in time they die are buried and return to ashes and dirt to begin all over again. The Circle of Life!
Our sense mind defines everything, color, smell, flavor and it all happens not on the outside but inside us. We created the feelings with our senses, if we decided they are good we feel good, if we decided they are bad we feel bad.
Yes, there is physical pain, that we suffer it is real, but the pain created by the mind is not it is sensual, created by us alone. This comes from causes and the effects are our imagined or remember thoughts/feelings. Buddha describes these negative thought/ feeling as suffering, only we can stop them.
To free ourselves we have to bring all these negative thoughts out of the dark recesses of our unconscious mind into conscious thinking mind and see the truth of these thoughts. If they are not working for our goodness and happiness, we can decide to do something that will add good things to our lives. We choose! Letting go of negative thinking redirects us towards positive things that will bring us happiness and peace.
Perception-opinion-conclusions all stop us from finding the truth we seek. Compassion and kindness for all living thing, means you think about others as much as you do yourself before saying or doing anything. Respecting, for all gives you back respect, kindness beget kindness and so on. Positive words and action bring, positive results, negative words and action bring you negative results, and cause creates effect karma.
